Roland Born May 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. He is 19 " long (with legs slightly bent) and weighs 4 lbs. Roland started out as the Connor kit sculpted by Heather Boneham. With many hours of work he has been brought to life with a real newborn look. He's such a sleepy baby. Roland has been permanently painted with Genesis Heat Set paints. Many layers have been added to give him an ultra realistic skin tone. He even has ultra fine capillaries on his ears, cheeks and eyelids. Baby Roland's skin color is a blotchy soft pink newborn look. He has been hand painted and blushed to perfection all over every inch of his vinyl. I have painted Roland's eyelids to give them a sleepy newborn look. Small little veins run through pinkish tones. Soft wispy eyebrows frame his eyes. I have also hand rooted his delicate eyelashes to match his hair colour and have sealed them from the inside so they won't fall out. Roland has the most beautiful and silky soft baby hair. It is a lovely shade of light brown premium mohair, but leans more towards a dirty blond colour. His hair was Micro-Rooted using a tiny felting needle. He has thousands of individual hair follicles. His hair is simply amazing! It is rooted in the direction that hair grows naturally and has been treated with a leave in conditioner, so it is not frizzy and doesn't require constant grooming to stay looking nice. His hair is rooted sparsely; and just like a real baby, you can see his scalp peeking through! The hair has been sealed inside the head so you can gently style her hair although some small shedding is still normal. Each and every tiny baby nail has been meticulously hand painted to give that newborn look. They have been sealed with a highly durable glass paint. Roland has jointed 3/4 length legs. His jointed vinyl arms are 3/4 length, allowing him to wear short sleeves. His body is made of high quality Doe Suede fabric and is double stitched where needed for added durability. Roland has been weighted with glass beads that have a baby powder scent added to them and stuffed with ultra soft poly-fill. His limbs are weighted with glass beads as well. He is floppy like a real newborn and will need his head supported. Roland has a cute blue and green magnetic pacifier to help sooth him. Although these magnets are small, care should be taken before using them around pacemakers. They are very powerful for their size. As always, care should be taken with magnets around credit cards or electronic devices. In April 2006 my 16-year old cousin, Brittany, passed away due to the disease Cystic Fibrosis. I have always had a love of arts and crafts as well as babies and children. Combining those with my love of doll collecting I decided to dive into the art of reborning in November 2008. Brittany loved Monkeys. She had a huge collection of all kinds of stuffed monkeys. So it came to me to call my Nursery Krystle's Little Monkeys and to make sure each baby went home with some kind of monkey item and that a portion of the proceeds of my dolls go to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis foundation to help find a cure for this terrible disease so that other children with it may live long healthy lives.
