In simple terms, an unidentified flying object it is eany airborne vessel that cannot be identified by the viwer. Im more scientific terms it is a vessel whose origins cannot be determined even after professional examination. People have claimed to see UFOs, for centuries but it was only after the well publicized UFO sigthing in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 that UFO spotting began on a large scale. In accient times, these UFOs were likely just meteors or comets but modern observances have become more sophisticated and harder to identify. The United States Air Force even mention UFOs in its regulations, offering and official definition and concludin that the may pose a threat to national security. Air Force personnel wee even instructed not to talk to the media about any unexplained cases of UFO sigthings. UFOs have prolifered popular colture, especially in the later half of the 20th century, providing the inspration for countless books, clubs, television shows, movies and Internet sites. They have even spawned their own area of research known as Ufology. What Is Ufology? A modern term, Ufology describes the efforts of both scientists and UFO enthusiasts to study and identify unidentified flying objects. While it does not represent a formal academic discipline. Ufology has produce intensive studies over the years, with academic in countries susch as the United States, Unitet Kingdom, the former Soviet Union, Canada and France trying to pinont what makes UFO and if the phenomenon really represents and intelligent alien life from somewhere out there. Themost famouse UFO study was perhaps Project Blue Book, conducted by the United Stated Air Force beteween 1947 and 1969. The 22-years study was conducted to determine if UFOs posed any significant threat to US national security. The commission studied over 12,000 claims of UFO sigthings and concluded that most of them had been misidentified and were really just naturall occurring phenomenan such as stars or clouds. Project Blue Book also came to the conclusion that there was nothing threatening about UFOs, as only a small percentage of the case studied turned out to be unidentified.
